Loss of volume happens during the natural aging process, especially in the mid-face, as the cheeks tend to become hollow and flat. Aesthetic physician Dr. Art Quintanilla uses FDA approved Sculptra Aesthetic®, a poly-L-lactic acid dermal filler that allows for longer-lasting and deeper volume replacement in the cheeks. In addition to improving the volume of the cheeks, Sculptra® can decrease the appearance of shallow-to-deep wrinkles and lines, including the nasolabial folds (also called laugh or smile lines) that start at the outside of the nose to the outer corners of the lips. Furthermore, although Sculptra® is mainly used for restoring facial volume, it is also widely used to treat successfully other body areas with volume loss or sagging such as decollete, hips, buttocks and arms. In summary, Sculptra® helps to increase the natural collagen production in your body, so even after you stop treatments, your skin will still be stronger compared to before the treatment.

How Are Sculptra Injections Performed?
After your consultation to determine your unique treatment plan, you will receive your Sculptra® injections in one of our private procedure rooms. Dr. Quintanilla can apply a local anesthetic or numbing cream prior to sterilizing and marking the sites to be injected. Once you are ready, Sculptra® is injected into the deeper layers of the skin at the selected areas. For longer-lasting results, Dr. Quintanilla suggests a minimum series of three treatments, each conducted at Desert Medical Rejuvenation about four to six weeks apart.
