Approved by the FDA, KYBELLA® is a nonsurgical, injectable option for upper neck fat. It can also be used on other anatomical areas such as the jowls. The active component in KYBELLA® is a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid (DA) that acts similarly to the natural form of DA found in the body to break down and absorb fat cells. After it is injected, you should see a visible reduction in the volume of fat. When the fat is eliminated, the cells cannot re-form, making the fat loss permanent, so you are able to enjoy your new, slimmer profile and defined jawline for years to come.

KYBELLA® injections are performed during an appointment in one of our treatment rooms at our Rancho Mirage, CA facility. Dr. Quintanilla will usually apply a numbing cream to the treatment area for about 20-30 minutes. Once the skin has been cleansed, the procedure takes around 15 minutes and includes several small injections into the submittal fat or the jowl fat. To achieve the desired results, at Desert Medical Rejuvenation most female patients usually require 3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart, whereas male patients usually require 4 treatments depending on the amount of fat. The procedure is quick and patients usually report minimal or no discomfort. The end result is swelling and redness of the treated area, which usually resolves in 3-5 days.

Although the procedure is generally comfortable, for those patients with very high levels of anxiety or low levels of tolerance to pain, we offer the use of PRO-NOX®, a device that delivers a mixture of inhaled Oxygen/Nitrous which numbs the patient's sensations for several minutes, enough to allow the doctor to complete the procedure. The patient recovers 100% at the end of the procedure.
