Filler injections (or dermal fillers) traditionally have been injected to replace diminished facial volume. A more modern approach is the use of dermal filers for lifting different areas such as the cheeks, the temples, the chin, the brow, the nose, the hands.
All those areas often lose volume for a number of reasons, but weight loss and age are major contributors. This treatment works by incorporating the liquid filler under the skin to fill in areas lacking volume or shape. - JUVÉDERM ULTRA™ XC, ULTRA PLUS™ XC and VOLLURE™ XC are various fillers that treat medium or deep wrinkles throughout the face, like nasolabial folds/smile lines, marionette lines, tear troughs (under-eyes), glabellar/frown lines, as well for lips volume. The results on average are visible for up to 9-12 months for Ultra and Ultra plus, and about 12-18 months for Vollure.
- JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA™ XC and ULTRA™ XC are common used to soften vertical lines of the upper lip, to redefine and contour the border of the lips, as well as to enhance the volume of the upper or lower lip. The results typically are visible for up to 9 months for Ultra XC and for12 months for Volbella XC.
- JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC augments the contour of the cheeks, temples and chin to treat volume lost with age in the mid-face and lower face. The results are long lasting, anywhere from 18-24 months.
- JUVEDERM VOLUX™ XC their newest and stoutest product exclusively approved by the FDA for definition and contouring of jawline and chin. The estimated duration is 24 months.
- RESTYLANE-L® for filling of facial folds and wrinkles. Duration is anywhere between 6-9 months.
- RESTYLANE REFYNE® and RESTYLANE DEFYNE® for filling of dynamic areas of animation, such as the nasolabial folds, the marionette lines, the chin and the lips. Refyne product is designed to fill mild to moderate wrinkles whereas Defyne is designed to fill deeper wrinkles and folds. The estimated duration is 9-12 months.
- RESTYLANE KYSSE®, the latest addition of the family, used for lips volume enhancement. A true finesse product. The estimated duration is 12 months.
- RESTYLANE LYFT,® a traditional filler that adds volume and lift in the mid-face, especially used on cheeks and hands. The estimated duration is 12 months.
- RESTYLANE CONTOUR®, in our opinion a revolutionary filler product due to its versatility to provide filling, lifting and contouring of multiple areas of the face, such as cheeks, temples and chin. The estimated duration is 12 months.
What to Expect from Dermal Fillers
A filler procedure can be completed in our Rancho Mirage, CA office quickly and with very few risks. As a rule, we apply topical numbing cream for several minutes prior to the procedure, which combined with the pre-mixed filler anesthetic, the whole process becomes very comfortable and tolerable pain-wise.
Although the procedure is generally comfortable, for those patients with very high levels of anxiety or low levels of tolerance to pain, we offer the use of PRO-NOX®, a device that delivers a mixture of inhaled Oxygen/Nitrous which numbs the patient's sensations for several minutes, enough to allow the doctor to complete the procedure. The patient recovers 100% at the end of the procedure.
Dr. Quintanilla prefers to use micro-cannulas rather than sharp needles, as they are safer and easier to use plus they minimize bruising and swelling, which will quickly fade if present after the procedure. NO downtime is required.

This is the BEST medical spa in the Valley- hands down. If you are reviewing this it means you are scouring the internet to find a good physician (MD) who you can TRUST with your Botox, fillers, peels, etc. MAKE AN APPT HERE! Dr. Quintanilla is an expert at what he does but also has a keen eye for beauty without “overdoing o it. I have had Botox and fillers for over a decade and he is by far the BEST. Updated 10/5/22. I have been a patient of Dr. Quintanilla for several years and have left several stellar reviews about his work and the professionalism of his staff. I recently had micro-needling, Pixel 8, and Erbium laser. I feel there are so many cosmetic procedures on the market that it is hard to pick and choose what is best for yourself. Dr. Quintanilla is an expert- in my opinion - in choosing what is best for you. He is conservative -yet the results are beautifully noticeable. For the many years I have been a patient, I have received so many compliments on my skin- so many questions about what I do and where I go for treatment. By adding newer treatments such as micro-needling, I have noticed such a difference in my wrinkles-pigmentation, and overall appearance of my skin. My skin is now ‘plump’ and younger looking- the additional service is so worth it! It is very easy to make an appt with the office. Dr. Quintanilla explains every detail. I have been a patient of Dr. Art Quintanilla’s for several years. My treatments have included Botox, Juvéderm, lip fillers, and facials to name a few. It is always a pleasure to see Dr Art and his amazing staff, especially Missy. On the phone Missy is most accommodating when scheduling my appointments. In the office, without exception, I always receive a warm and friendly welcome from her, and an offer of "can I get you something to drink"? Dr. Art is incredible and has a keen eye and magical hands. He checks and double checks himself, and you never feel rushed by him or his assistants. I have experienced only positive outcomes from their expertise and exemplary skills, and I know that I will be comfortable and well cared for. Also, depending on the procedure, that I’ll be given clear instructions for home care and optimal healing, as well as ice, arnica, or antibiotic ointment to minimize bruising and eliminate infection. The office is lovely, and immaculately clean and neat. I am looking forward to my next appointment for skin resurfacing due to sun damage. There isn’t a medical procedure I wouldn’t trust Dr. Art and his staff to perform.
